Beaches in Skyros
If you are looking for a holiday destination where you can simply relax and unwind on the beach, then the island of Skyros is the perfect place for you.
You will find a great selection of beaches all around the island, with most of them situated in the northern half of the island. There are many other beaches in the south, but these are not as accessible, unless you have a boat.
The most famous beach in Skyros is the sandy beach of Magazia. This soft golden sand beach is located on the north-eastern coast of the island, and is the perfect place for a refreshing swim during the summer months. Magazia beach connects with that of Molos, creating a long beach that stretches up to the area of Pouria in the north.
The beach of Magazia and Molos can get busy during the summer, so if you are looking for something a little less crowded then there are plenty of other beaches you can visit. Just a short distance from Molos in the north of Skyros is the huge sandy beach of Gyrismata. The beach in Gyrismata stretches for approximately 1km, so you can easily find a place just for yourself.
On the north west of the island are a number of other beautiful beaches that you can enjoy. The town of Atsitsa has a lovely beach and a little further up from here are the beaches of Kalogrias and Kyra Panagia. Another beach close to Atsitsa is that of Agios Petros, which is surrounded by rich vegetation and is a very peaceful beach.
Some of the other beaches you can find on the western coast of Skyros include the beaches of Acherounes and Kalamitsa. There are lots of nice places along the coast where you can stop for a swim.
